Lars and Camille met for their first date in November 2018 at a cocktail lounge in West DC named after a civi war general, McClellan's Retreat. Lars made it to a second round at a coffee and wine bar in Georgetown where Camille dawned a Patriots jersey (Gronkowski), a bedazzled Patriots hat and matching Patriots earrings. Lars was up front and transparent upon sitting down, disclosing his loyalty to the New York Jets. Intentionally leaving a pregnant pause after Lars said there is something Camille must know, she thought he was going to say "I have a kid..." It turned out to be far worse and Camille has since adopted the men in green -- must be true love.

It was on their third date they both knew there was something special budding. The two closed down a french restaurant two doors down from McClellan's, Bistrot Du Coin, who's tag line is "French, Fun and Friendly." It holds a special place in their hearts and everyone is urged to check it out.

Ah the pre-pandemic courtship days! 2019 was filled with endless dates, travel and fun with friends. It was capped off by a New Years Eve celebration in Miami Beach. Camille and Lars were blessed to have one another and ultimately thrived during the early pandemic months. They were the first tenants to move out of their respective apartments and moved in together earlier than expected. They found an apartment blocks from the US Marine Corps War Memorial adjacent to Arlington Cemetery. Nicknamed "The Oasis," their apartment became a sanctuary for friendship and love for family and friends. Notable memories include hosting Thanksgiving and Christmas feasts, watching the fireworks over the Capital and the many casual hang outs around the kitchen island.

Lars' penchant for backcountry snowboarding, surfing and sailing did not wane during the first three years of their relationship. The air travel and hours on the road to the likes of the Outer Banks and Assateague Island became a real drag and did not align with their environmental values. Lars dreamed of moving back to Los Angeles and Camille agreed on one condition. That one condition was to get the largest bernadoodle they could find...

In December 2021, Wally Darling was born on the winter solstice. Lars left the company he was working for and struck out on his own. Camille found a new job with a company based out of Alexandria, but ok with full remote. With a 9 month old pup, the two threw their life in a car and truck and drove out west in September 2022, landing in Marina Del Rey where they currently reside. Wally, now three years old, Lars and Camille have been building a life together in Southern California marked by endless sunsets and love ever since.
